Tankers must be operated safely and with minimum spills and loss
of life and cargo. DNV is there to ensure that this is the
case.
More than 20% of all tankers are operating with DNV class.
Tanker for Oil
The objective of this class notation is to ensure
compliance with requirements applicable to ships with integrated
tanks intended to carry oil in bulk. A list of relevant cargoes
that may be carried is given in Rules Pt.5 Ch.3 Appendix B.
Tanker for Oil Products
The objective of this class notation is to ensure
compliance with requirements applicable to ships intended to carry
any type of oil product, except crude oil. A list of relevant
cargoes that may be carried is given in Rules Pt.5 Ch.3 Appendix
A.
